Career Resource Center

The Career Resource Center in Batavia offers a variety of free services for your job search needs including access to computers with high speed internet access, copiers, scanners and fax machines.

In addition, the Career Resource Center is staffed with experienced career coaches who can give you personalized assistance. Whether you have been recently laid off, returning to the workforce or looking to change careers, we can discuss the current work environment with you and help you determine your best course of action. Our career coaches can provide one-on-one assistance with improving your resume and cover letters and also provide strategies for job searching using LinkedIn, social media and other tools. We also offer mock interviewing and other help for everything related to your career.

Resumes and Cover Letters

Do you have a resume? Is it up to date? Whether you are just getting started or revising a decades old document, our resume workshops are designed to create a new resume from scratch with a focus on the sections you need and proper formatting. Our advanced session focuses on resume do’s and don’t’s and how to customize your resume for each job to which you are applying.

Job Search Strategies

Whether you are looking for an entry-level position, a better position, a career change or just browsing, you need to have a plan to get the results you are looking for. Our job search strategies workshop will give you ideas on how to plan, organize, monitor and execute on your search to maximize your results.

Interviewing Skills

Interviews can be nerve wracking, but will become much less scary if you prepare properly and are ready for what is coming. Participate in our interviewing skills workshop and we will discuss common questions, etiquette and attire as well as ways to reduce your anxiety. Also, specific strategies for practicing and preparing for online interviews will be discussed.

LinkedIn Profile

Your online presence is something you need to be aware of during your job search. Utilizing your LinkedIn profile to your advantage should be part of your job search and career advancement plan. Learn about the “do’s and dont’s” of LinkedIn profiles and how to use LinkedIn during your job search to build your network.

Populations Served

workNet Batavia is committed to serving everyone in the community by providing a diverse, inclusive environment enabling everyone to have opportunities to succeed. We strive to provide the basic resources required across our service populations while also being proactive in meeting individual needs.

Individuals that have lost their jobs through layoff or other circumstances can receive assistance in finding new employment from the One-Stop Center and may be eligible for grants and scholarships to pay for additional training to improve their existing skills or gain new skills required to work in a new industry.

Youth age 16 to 24 years old can receive assistance in finding employment , education and training opportunities through the One-Stop Center. Specialized programs are available for eligible youth that provide financial assistance with tuition, fees, books and supplies for participants.

The One-Stop Center has a special commitment to veterans. As provided by the Jobs for Veterans Act, workNet Batavia gives Priority of Service to veterans and their eligible spouses for our job search workshops and training grants.

We have a variety of services available from our partners for people that may need accommodations. At the One-Stop Center, we have an assistive technology station for access to the Internet for customers that may have visual or hearing impairment. In addition, our partners at the Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services are available to speak with persons with disabilities about specific needs and career support programs.

The One-Stop Center staff has experience working with older individuals transitioning into new jobs or returning to the workforce. In addition to assistance with resumes, online profiles and job searches for those aged 55 or better, the Senior Community Service Employment Program provides training and work experience for unemployed seniors.
