workNet Batavia is part of the Illinois workNet system and is a proud partner of the American Job Center network. American Job Centers are funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration and are located throughout the United States. In order to provide comprehensive services, these Centers have a number of mandated government and community partners which provide funding and guidance for the Center. In addition, through the One-Stop Center and their own programs, our partners provide a variety of services for job seekers including career services, education, training, employment resources and financial assistance. Our partners also provide services to employers including training programs for their current workforce, local industry and business data and services to reach qualified applicants for open positions.

Operates Elgin YouthBuild, a program model that balances project-based academic learning and construction occupational skills training to prepare youth for career placement while performing meaningful work and service in their community. The YouthBuild program model prepares participants for quality jobs in a variety of careers, and contains wrap-around services such as mentoring, financial literacy, employment, mental health and medical services. This program is a community-based alternative education program for youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who left high school prior to graduation that also have other risk factors, including being an adjudicated youth, youth aging out of foster care, youth with disabilities, migrant farmworker youth, youth experiencing housing instability, and other disadvantaged youth populations.

Operates Aurora YouthBuild, which is a Pre-apprenticeship program where you can earn your high school diploma or GED and acquire construction skills and certifications to obtain gainful employment in the trades, as well as perform construction-related community service projects. Aurora Youthbuild offers workforce development services, leadership skills, resume writing, wrap-around services and participation in community service projects throughout Aurora. Also, you will receive career coaching and college placement assistance. Serves 16-24-year-olds that meet YouthBuild income requirements.
